Optical Devices Constructed from Smart Microgels for Sensing
Dr. Qiang Zhang joined in Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in June 2017 as a full professor and group leader. Now, he built a group of 11 members within 6 months that is comprised of 4 staff (1 Associate professor and 2 assistant professors), 1 Post-doc (Dr. Ghulam Mastafa from Pakistan), 6 students. Before he joined in CIAC, he spent almost 4 years in University of Alberta (Canada) from Aug 2013 to June 2017 as a post-doctorate fellow. Here, he was invited as an invited youth speaker (4 youth speakers were invited) in the Emerging Materials Chemistry Investigator Symposium at the CSC conference in Halifax in 2016. He got Alberta Innovates Technology Futures (AITF) Fellowship in April 2015, which was designed to provide 15 fellowships for the whole Alberta province each year to support excellent research. Only 5 AITF Postdoctoral Fellowships were awarded from 600 candidates each year at the University of Alberta. He won “The Best Presentation Award, the University of Alberta” (from 52 post-doc) of Post-doc Research Day at Oct-12 2014. Attested to my research productivity, he has contributed to 2 patents, 4 book chapters and 32 peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals (IF > 3.0) (such as Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.; Chem. Mater., Chem. Commun., Chem. Eur. J. Macromolecules, and J. Mater. Chem.). Further, some of my research results have been reported and highlighted as worthy scientific news by 15 media.
